Gain the Skills to Lead EMS and Pre-Hospital Care Programs

 

The one-year ACGME-accredited EMS Fellowship is designed to provide emergency physicians the training to become board certified in the EMS subspecialty. It opens opportunities for Medical Director positions in EMS systems, and allows graduates to affect first-responder and pre-hospital policy throughout communities. Graduates of our fellowship will be ready to:

  • Work as a medical director of an EMS agency, EMS researcher, or ED-based EMS specialist

  • Interface with FEMA and other state and federal disaster management agencies

  • Design and instruct programs to manage community volunteers during mass casualty incidents

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) in Colton, CA has an annual ED volume of 100,000. This is a level 2 trauma center, regional burn center, and designated stroke center. The patient population is very diverse as is its pathology. The hospital has 6 residency programs and 3 fellowships that are all ACGME accredited. This location is the dedicated teaching site for California University of Science and Medicine, which is a medical school right on our campus. Arrowhead Regional Medical Center is also an academic affiliate for Western University of Health Sciences, Loma Linda University, St. George’s University, and UC Riverside.

Curriculum

 

The ARMC EMS Fellowship is a 12-month ACGME Accredited EMS Fellowship, that includes:

 

  • Field care delivery

  • Administrative oversight

  • Administrative and academic projects

  • Offline and online medical direction

  • Disaster & event medicine training

We partner with agencies including the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the Inland Counties Emergency Medical Services Authority (ICEMA), Inland Valley SWAT Team, Mercy Air, and AMR to ensure a sufficiently broad experience coupled with strong expertise.

Eligibility

 

The EMS Fellowship is open to graduates of an AGME accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine. You must be board certified or board eligible and be able to obtain a California medical license.

 

Compensation and Benefits

 

Fellows receive regular compensation for clinical hours as an attending physician and Vituity Partner (including Partnership advancement) and are eligible for the full benefits available to all physicians.
