Vituity adds its voice to a coalition of pioneering healthcare organizations advocating for policies that support care for patients at home.
EMERYVILLE, CA (April 9, 2021) -- Vituity announced today that it has joined the recently launched Moving Health Home coalition. Founded in March 2021, the coalition is a group of forward-thinking healthcare organizations who are moving to care for patients where they are – and that setting is increasingly found in patients’ own homes. Vituity joins founding members – including Amazon Care, Intermountain Healthcare, and Ascension - to promote a shared belief that patients should have access to quality, effective, and compassionate care in the home.
“For nearly fifty years, Vituity has been a national leader in urgent, acute, and post-acute care. Over the last decade, we have led efforts to expand care delivery to the home and have had the honor of caring for millions of patients via telehealth, hospital at home, and care coordination initiatives,” said Vituity Chief Transformation Officer, Rick Newell, MD. “We are driven to deliver and enable care in the context that patients need it, whether that be in a hospital, urgent care, skilled nursing facility, or in their own home. We are excited to join the Moving Health Home alliance to create a care delivery system that is truly centered around the patient.”
The COVID-19 pandemic has upended many long-held assumptions about the way Americans access care. One of those assumptions was that patients must enter a hospital, clinic, or other traditional healthcare facility to receive the most efficient and advanced care possible. Today patients want – and often need – the flexibility to choose their home as a primary site of care. As an example, Vituity led the implementation of an innovative Hospital at Home model in 2020 which has the capacity to provide inpatient-level care to 150 patients in their own homes.
Although the movement to bring healthcare to the home is not new, long-standing barriers to remote and home-based clinical care have been relaxed or erased out of necessity to ensure COVID-19 safety protocols. These easements are now being considered as a permanent fixture as both clinicians and their patients report growing satisfaction with the trend.
Along with offering lower overall healthcare costs for local, state, and federal governments, home-based clinical care also offers opportunities for healthcare innovators in an environment ripe for value-based transformation. Vituity and its Moving Health Home partners are aligning to maintain the patient at the heart of this movement.
